Presentation of the Med Hemp project on hemp cultivation
The Med Hemp Project (Mediterranean Hemp), financed by the Apulia Region, is the result of the collaboration between DISAAT (University of Bari), farms interested in the cultivation of industrial hemp and Slow Food Bari. The aim of the activity is to develop the best cultivation technique for hemp in Puglia, in order to guarantee some alternatives to durum wheat in extensive cultivation systems. The need to identify environmentally sustainable agricultural productions, which are the result of production processes that are also sustainable, seems fundamental for a sector, that of sativa hemp, which today is certainly one of the emerging sectors in the Apulian panorama but which must adapt to new regulatory and market demands.
