Regione Piemonte has developed an innovative web showcase for companies that practice organic farming and consumers.
Organic farming is a method of cultivation that aims to respect the environment and natural balances, the health of the operator, the consumer and the animals. In Italy, organic farming is growing, with a cultivated area of almost two million hectares (report “Bio in figures 2020” by Mipaaf – Ismea), while in Piedmont, in 2019 there were about 3000 organic operators, of which about 2500 classified as producers, for a cultivated area of about 50,000 hectares.
In this context, it is particularly important for organic companies to be able to communicate to consumers the specificity and quality of their productions and territory of origin: in fact, often those who want to buy organic products have difficulty in identifying companies that can meet their demand for specific productions.
The Agriculture and Food Department of the Piedmont Region, in its activity of development of an increasingly sustainable agriculture, has therefore put in place a promotional action: a new section dedicated to organic operators in Piedmont on the institutional portal of quality products and territories “Piedmont Agri Quality” (www.piemonteagri.it).
Let’s discover how the portal works, the possibilities of updating by the companies and the many navigation paths that open up for the consumer together with some organic farms in Piedmont.
