The Shanghai Earth Market takes place in the ChangNing 长宁区 (cháng níng qū) sub-district, a broad area of 38.3 square kilometers with a population of about 700,000 people. The market is indoor, on the ground floor of the MetroTown Mall, that is already hosting a Social Enterprises market once a month and includes several small shops and a few restaurants. The products and produces sold at the Shanghai Earth Market are good (local, genuine), clean (no pesticides should be used, and only organic fertilizers are allowed) and fair (directly sold by farmers at a fair price). At the market it is possible to buy fresh and seasonal food, from fruits and vegetables to duck eggs, herbs and teas including the the Slow Food Ark of Taste yellow tea. There are also artisanal sweets and pastries such as rice cakes, ginger products and biscuits.
