Seventh episode of the Slow Wine Talks organised by Slow Wine Latam.

We will meet virtually with Pepe Moquillaza, master pisquero and winemaker from the area of San Juan de Ihuanco and the desert of Ica, in Peru. When he started in the world of spirits, he focused on rescuing and revaluing the quebranta grape and the distillation in falca for the creation of Pisco. In addition to this, he has aimed to rescue criollo grapes, long macerations and the use of Peruvian botijas (amphorae) for the elaboration of ancestral wines. He will tell us about his winemaking work between the sea and the Peruvian desert, with his maritime wines from Cerro Azul (Ihuanco Wines) and desert wines in Ica (MiMo Wines).

Through our Slow Wine Latam community and our international activities, we support and promote small and medium-sized Latin American winemakers who use traditional techniques, working with respect for the environment and the territory, and safeguarding the incredible biodiversity of grape varieties that are part of the Latin American heritage.
