Garfagnana food and agrobiodiversity Community – Social development association is fully committed to enhancement and promotion of local agrobiodiversity as tangible and intangible heritage of agricultural breeds and varieties, traditions, knowledge and flavors; generation by generation all these things have shaped the landscape and culture of people.

Garfagnana food and agrobiodiversity Community as open, transparent, ethical and cultural movement acts to improve the quality of local life, to encourage solidarity economy, respecting ecosystems and natural balances, history and vocation of places.

A new food system based on the principles below can start new production organization model but even social and environmental model able to develop harmony wellness and future for the new generation.

 

Good, ethical and sustainable food:

Genuine and quality local food, at a fair price for producers and consumers, obtained through sustainable agricultural practices.

Respectful production processes:

environment, animal welfare, natural resources, landscape, native varieties and breeds, local agricultural and livestock traditions.

Direct markets and short supply chains:

Direct circuits, from farm to fork, to support small producers, consumers, the conservation of biodiversity and general speaking in favour of local economy.

In defence of Rights:

culture of legality, peace, cooperation, work, equal opportunities and social integration.

Education and involvement:

To promote cultural activities focusing local community, schools and young generation on food and local agrobiodiversity, while promoting our territory peculiarity.

To highlight the value of Garfagnana:

to keep viable the community sense of our villages also by devising cultural, experiential and tourist routes to spread the heritage of our own local agrobiodiversity

Networking:

cooperation and responsibilities sharing between all actors and territorial institutions; policies and initiatives aimed to focus on Garfagnana food and biodiversity Community and its values, to revitalize social fabrics and to offer economic opportunities.
