The Friuli Colli Orientali is a plot of land, which thanks to its homogeneous soil composition of marl and sand (the so called “ponca”), the exposure of the vineyards to the sun and a favorable microclimate, allows the cultivation of a variety of vines.
The vineyards that surround the Montebello Hill offer year after year very fragrant, fresh white wines and full-bodied, velvety red wines of a wide bouquet thanks to the exceptional range of temperature, typical of the area, which allows an excellent concentration of aromas in the grapes.
In the last two decades several olive trees of five different cultivars have been planted in order to complete the landscape: their fruits are used to produce Il Roncal extra virgin olive oil.
Following the rigorously manual harvest, belated for some varieties to pick the bunches at their most generous point of maturity, the grapes are brought to the cellar, where the vinification takes place according to traditional methods supported by modern technologies, the most important of which concerns temperature control that allows to preserve the properties of the grapes and their aromas.
In the underground rooms of the cellar there is an unmistakable scent and a unique glance: French oak barriques and
tonneaux host the aging wines. Here the aromas complement each other giving the nose pleasant hints of ripeness.
