San Simone was founded in Friuli by a family that has always believed in the extraordinary enological potential of its land and has more than hundred years of experience in wine-making.
A family, four generations: a story full of dynamic and resolute characters.
These were the talents of our great-grandfather and founder Gino Brisotto at the beginning of the last century: with the help of our great grandmother Olga, he gave the first decisive impulse to the activity, later followed by our grandparents, Antonio and Angela, carrying on teh perseverance and the confidence to strengthen his results.
Later on, handed over to our parents, Gino and Liviana convinced that to grow and improve we must always be open to change, which gave birth to a new production project: San Simone. An adventure that started from the historical Brisotto cellars, in Prata and later shifted to the new premises in Porcia, where the company accelerated its pace on the road to quality. This project aims to handle with care even a minimum detail, from the vineyard to the bottle.
Since then, the sign of smooth generational change, the company has changed hands from father to son, undergoing a continuous and constant evolution, both from technological and commercial point of view. Today San Simone is directed by Chiara, Anna and Antonio, the fourth generation. We together, with pride and tenacity, are following the exemplary footsteps of our parents, Gino and Liviana, who have transmitted this strong passion to us.
The property is located in the zone of DOC Friuli Grave and in the DOC Prosecco area in Friuli Venezia Giulia region, extending over an area of 65 ha. We invest considerable resources in the vineyard, where we promote a modern viticulture, targeted on low yield of grapes per hectare, thanks to modern vine training system (Guyot and cordon-spur), the high-density planting and low bud density per vine.
Furthermore, the rationalization of phytosanitary management, grassing, green manure and the study of the best environmental conditions for vine cultivation are the main factors that have contributed in producing top quality grapes for each variety that our winery grows.
Pinot Grigio ramato as it was traditionally made in the 70s in the Friuli region, leaving it to macerate on the grape skin for a night.
Clear, bright with the characteristic copper colour, with an intense and persistent nose that ranges from red currant and raspberries to notes of apricot, roses and pomegranate.
It is one of the benchmark wines of Friuli. Part of its characteristic flavour certainly derives from the particularity of the soil on which it grows, a terrain of alluvial origin, rich in limestone and sand, with silty clayey sediments.
The scent is rich in floral notes, a delicate bouquet of almonds, field flowers, fig, and anise. Flowery with a generously full taste. Harmonic and dry.
This Organic Prosecco Doc embodies quality, elegance and is a natural progression of the path which we undertook over 10 years ago to promote environmentally friendly wines and sustainable agricultural practices. These practices are also implemented in all stages of vinification, second fermentation, bottling and storage.
Wine making is an art in itself but not just any kind of art.
It is an art which does not require only know-how but also loads of passion, love, sacrifice, patience, sensitivity and fantasy.
It is essential to have a solid tradition and strong enological culture. This art cannot be merely learned, it is something innate.
It is an emotion, and like everything that springs from the heart, it becomes a light for the mind, a scent and an enthusiasm for the life through the transformation of the grapes into wine.
